When The Girls Get Together

A504 - a medium size condo unit in Desa Pesona, Petaling Jaya. Nine girls under one roof. We shared the fun, laughs, ups and downs together. Yearly tradition - reunion dinner for CNY. Ying Ker Lou, The Gardens - our 2012 reunion venue.

First visit here. Interior was average. Just like other normal Chinese restaurant. Expensive. One thing myself and Bean noticed that all the waiters and waitresses are foreigner except the captain. Took awhile for waiter/waitress to take our order. Service was slow and lacking. We had to wave few times to get their attention. Few items on the menu was not available. I think they should be informed beforehand and not repeatedly return to customer.

Kuan didn't join us due to work commitment. And we have more members joining year by year. I guess, we are not able to fit into one big table in the future if everyone comes with spouse and children. Looking forward to the day.

Let's back to what we had for dinner. (I am more interested in food)

Salmon Yee Sang RM 68
We ordered Large Yee Sang for 14 of us. We didn't finish the whole portion. I personally don't really fancy Yee Sang. And nothing much to describe when the salmon pieces are nothing great.

Steam Fish Head with Black Bean and Soya Bean Sauce RM 39
Cheap doesn't always mean good. If compared to other menu, rather reasonable price for this dish. Meat was quite dry and taste tad hard.

Lettuce Oyster Sauce RM 27
Simplest dish of the night. Normal and average lettuce that can be found easily.

Crispy Belly Pork RM 50

Overpriced for this small portion of pork belly. Not worth the money we paid.

Braised Basil Chicken with Three Cups Sauce RM 59

Combination of cooking oil, soya sauce and rice wine. Quite tasty and the meat was tender. One of the few dishes that I remember and will reorder if I ever go for second visit.

Preserved Egg with Bean Curd RM 23
I like the combination of bean curd and preserved egg. Another simply dish and yet tastes good. Back to basics :)

Hakka Yam Abacus RM 19
Chewy texture made of mashed yam paste. I think we could get something similar with cheaper price.

Stewed Pork Gut with White Pepper RM 34

There are some dishes that I did not try :

Stuffed Bittergourd Hakka Style RM 25
I don't eat bittergourd. No special review on this particular dish but I didn't heard anything good about it :p

Preserved Mustard Vegetable Rice Rolls RM 8

Ho Po Vegetable Dumplings RM 8 & Hakka Carrot Dumplings RM 8

Lastly, our expensive tea of the night.

Pu Er Tea RM 4.50 x 14 = RM 63

Emily had Hakka Pounded Tea (white rice) RM 15.90. No photo taken.

Overall, first experience dining there was not a good one. Poor food quality, slow service and too expensive.

Some group photos.
